I, Dr. Kim Abog, Naturopathic Doctor, would like to acknowledge that my practice is based in Toronto, Ontario (Tkaronto), the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit. It is also the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg, the Haudenosaunee, the Chippewa, and the Wendat peoples and continues to be home to many Indigenous Peoples from across Turtle Island today. To understand and read more about the many Indigenous people and territories that exist here in the land we now know as Canada, please go to native-land.ca.
As a settler on this land, I am grateful to live and work here and owe much of my health and wellness knowledge to Indigenous Peoples worldwide. I also acknowledge the involvement of the naturopathic profession in the ongoing process of colonization and oppression, wherein traditional health knowledge has been continually devalued and misrepresented as its own when it is founded on knowledge from (but not limited to) Indigenous, African, and Asian medical systems. I commit to advocating for the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s calls to action.
